The Druidic council of the Narlmarches:

Tira, a female gnome. She says that Nature is everchanging and that the PCs' kingdom is just a new event to which Nature will adapt.

Ilean, a feral and outspoken human male dressed in rags, has a full beard and is constantly talking about the hunter-prey duality in Nature... In order not to become the prey, Nature should make war on the PCs' kingdom before they become too powerful.

Megalon, another human male, this time dressing as a wizard. He suspects the PCs won't be able to control the people of their Kingdom, so that they won't respect Nature's  laws, and therefore are dangerous.

Salissa, a human female dressed with a mantle made of flowers and fruits, who thinks Nature should nurture everybody, including the "civilized" races, so long as they don't harm nature. From the beginning seems to be in favour of the PCs.

Aklamor, elf male dressed as a ranger that seems to be the leader. Aklamor accepting a sort of alliance with the March of Ambitus, as long as there is no more wanton destruction of creatures (like the slaying of the Tatzlwyrms, he points out)... He mentions that as long as the PCs' kingdom does not provoke Nature, the Druids will try to help them.

Letter to Lord Parsall of Liberthane

Best regarded Lord Parsall,
ruler of Liberthane, paladin of Milani, defender of Freedom, Justice and Hope,

with the present letter I wish to express to you the best regards of my Lord, Sir Cardot Orlovsky from Brevoy,
Regent of the new River Nation of the March of Ambitus and cleric of Cayden Cailean

and of the other members of the Upper Council of the March of Ambitus:

Sir Am, zen archer, follower of Irori, trained in Jalmeray, Warden of Ambitus

Sir Gam'elgar Dugh'lan, ranger of Narlmarches, General of Ambitus

and

Sir Kiire Jalka Varjoisa Maanalainen, magus, follower of Desna, Chancellor of Ambitus

The Upper Council of Ambitus want to express you its sympathy for the work you are doing in the River Nation of Liberthane,
by defending and fostering the great values of Goodness, Fairness, Respectability and Freedom,
all values highly priced by ours beloved Deities of Milani, Cayden Cailean, Desna and Erastil.

As your goddess borrowed the ancient halabard to Thais, the herald of Cayden Cailean, we try to repay a little part of the debt by offering you our help and support.

The Upper Council considers your community as an island of hope and stability within the River Nations.

We are of the opinion that a mutual support in our common interests would be advantageous for both our nations.

As a first step of this collaboration we would like to establish a traveller/trade station in Liberthane, for a new trade route connecting the north to the south of the River Kingdoms along the Schrike and East Sellen  rivers.
This house would also serve as residence of our diplomatic representative in Liberthane.

Best Regards,

Yours,

Kiire Jalka Varjoisa Maanalainen,
Chancellor of the March of Ambitus

Olegton, March of Ambitus
13th Abadius (January) 4711 A.R.

Kii Notes

1) Rostland has interest in having good relations with us, and is actually financing us, but that means that we could have trouble with Issia, by keeping an alliance with Rostland. What are the implication of this ?

2) If we have to strong ties with Brevoy, we could have problem within the River Kingdoms: we have to make it clear from the beginning that we will be one of the River Kingdoms and will respect the Six River Freedoms. It would be important to get the recognition of Daggermark on this, being the leading power of the River Kingdoms.
I will also try to build good ties with the free gnomic cities of Jovvox and Thom and with Libertane, Artume, Outsea and Tymon. In this context a diplomatic trip to those territory could be a good move. And obviously encourage more collaboration with the faction of the Wanderseekers and the Svirfneblin.

2) Mivon is the closest neighbour and it could feel threatened by a new 'power' too close. Mivon was founded by escaped Aldori Swordlords but I don't know if it is in good or bad terms with Rostland/Issia. In Mivon live some hundreds of gnomes, elves and dwarfs. Maybe some could be interested to move in a territory where the leadership includes a gnome and a half-elf. If Mivon is still bound to Rostland, a pact Rostland-Rostov-Mivon-Us could be good for all of us. It would be also a possibility for the descendent of the fugitive Aldori Swordlords who "still worry at the memory of their ignominious retreat ", to atone their ancestors actions ....

3) Pitax is also quite near, and Castruccio Irovetti's megalomaniac behaviour has generated tension with Brevoy and Numeria already. It could also be a problem in the future.

4) Other problems to think about are i) the boggards: are evil ? possible to pacify them ? ii) the mudmen at east of Bokken: are they intelligent ? evil ? iii) are dangers in the tuskwater lake ?

5) The River Kingdoms are neutral or evil, with few exceptions, and mostly chaotic. The new kingdom will try to be attractive and offer new developing areas for people who would like more ethic (good) and a bit more order (neutral), still within the frame of the Six River Freedoms. We will also have a special eye for non-evil non-human races, as gnomes, elves, half-elves, dwarves and halflings.

6) Another long term project: open a travel/trade route along the Shrike/east Sellen river, connecting Rostov/New Stetven to Absalom. The route would be part on water part on road.
The lock on the Shrike River should be built and some stop/storage stations along the way created: one could be in Liberthane (River Kingdoms), Riverton (River Kingdoms), Woodsedge (Galt), Bellis (Andoran), Cassomir (Taldor) and finally Absalom. The stop station could be a building acting partially as warehousing and part as guesthouse.
The third river freedom (Walk Any Road, Float Any River - This freedom blocks prevents of the river kingdoms from blocking travel over land and water, including charging tolls for passage.) should guarantee the free passage on river and roads, so for a trading company of the River Kingdoms shouldn't be to difficult to go along the Sellen River till Galt.

Dealings with Restov Merchants (3rd and 4th Gozran 4710)

Conversation with Jonah Renton (the merchant attacked by Trolls)
Jonah is open to the development ideas of the characters. He explained them the following:

1.- Davik's bridge is very important for the merchants to be able to reach Galt, and Taldor further to the south, both of them rich lands with demand for northern goods (although Galt is now in the middle of a rebellion/civil war). Not having the bridge means dangerous and costly detours, so its reconstruction would be a high priority project for the merchants, for which they would risk investment if you are able to keep the area secure and promise low fees to cross the bridge.
Without the bridge (even with it), the merchants have to cross the Kamelands hills, and here there are 3 problems at the moment that need to be solved before the merchants are able to fully use this route: bandit raids from the Stag Lord (already diminished thanks to your actions in the past weeks), Kobold raids (there are still reports of merchants being robbed by the Kobolds), Mite raids (same thing as with the kobolds).

2.- Another important area is the Narlmarches (the forest in your area of influence). It would be important to have a nice road and several safe places to stop. Oleg's Trading Post is one. Another one could be the Temple of Erastil (now starting to be developed by the priest Jhod Kavken). The problem here at the moment is that west of the Temple there is not much you know, so you would need to explore the west a bit... specially important would be finding a good place to ford or cross the Thorn River. Jonah tells you that there was an old bridge to the south of the area you have already explored (south of the Bandit camp you assaulted) but that it is at the moment too near to the Stag Lord's fort to be used safely.

This is an important area to reach Pitax from which it is easy to take barges to Lake Encarthan and other exotic lands to the west. At the moment, Pitax has a new leader, Lord Castruccio Irovetti, who is intent in developing the "bandit kingdom". He has funded an Academy of Arts and there is great demand for some products: musical instruments, paper, fine cloth for costumes, etc.

3. As for natural resources, the Greenbelt has been a wilderness area for a long time, so there are many untapped resources, although many trappers and merchants complain that most developments have been harashed not only by bandits, kobolds and mites, but also by strange accidents and mishaps attributed to the "forest spirits"... In order to develop these resources, these spirits should be taken care of somehow.

4. As for the Troll assault, they are a very rare sight in the northern Narlmarches, and that's the reason Jonah's team was taken by surprise. He thinks they might be a small roaming band from a big tribe that must be much more to the south... He asks you to keep an eye, although he doubts you'll see any of them... You also talk with other merchants and trappers at Oleg's and only a third of them report sightings of Trolls, and mostly lone Trolls.
